For the first time in 30 years and the second time in the history of Kalamazoo we have elected a Black Woman Vice Mayor.
Kalamazoo is where I was born and raised and where I’ve chosen to raise my family. It is one of the greatest cities in Michigan and I look forward to representing this diverse community with my determination and passion. Like many of you, I am aware of our short comings but excited about the unique opportunities Kalamazoo has to become a thriving city for all people.
As your commissioner, I want to ensure that as we utilize new approaches to solve problems, the voices of our residents is always lifted. I will always serve as an upstanding ambassador to this community.
I believe in a Kalamazoo that doesn't just talk about equity and opportunities but takes action by creating and supporting policies that ensure everyone in our city has access to attainable and quality housing, education, healthcare, food and water, employment, and transportation. In addition to balancing the budget we must create safe and clean neighborhoods, cultivate businesses, and strengthen our infrastructure! I have a passion for our community and I want to continue to be that public servant who advocates for you!
